THERE LIVED A RACE CALLED MANKIND...

Fragmented pieces and shattered ties – this is what is left of what was once called humanity. Broken in the name of religion, divided in the name of ethnicity mankind is now a caricature of its own self. 21 ST century promises to be an age of development, an era of technological boom and socio-political escalation. The golden hands of development has brushed even some of the remote interiors of the globe, the major contribution is that of electricity -lighting up houses that has been dark for ages. However the darkness that prevails in the minds of people has not escaped. There has been a great evolution of mankind from those barbaric early man days to today’s present sophisticated world. The day has come when man has surpassed all other beings but in this process of evolution a section of the crowd has become a race of hungry blood-sucking mongrels. The values of love, compassion, sympathy that stands as the touchstones of the race called mankind has become a thing of the pas...

SOULMATES

SOULMATES She stood there. The wind was creating riffs in her lustrous black hair and her face shone in the moonlight. The street lamp at the corner of the lane glowed giving light to all the wanderers of the night. A stray dog was barking out loud faraway and the neighbourhood mothers were trying to put their babies to sleep. An old record was blazing out of the window in the next apartment. And she stood there leaning against the railings of her balcony speaking her heart out to him. She knew it was only he who could understand her. With him, there were always words of comfort and love that were like music to her ears, words that she wanted to hear, words that soothe her senses and make her feel alive. He was the person of her dreams. He never stopped her when she talked. With him she felt relieved to share all the happenings of the day. He listened with a smile laughing at her joys and worried at all her woes. She knew all her friends were busy with their lives and there were ...

THE GOODBYE

“Tap tap tap” the raindrops were tapering loud on the rooftop. A rainy cold night and Naina lay on her  bed awake. She checked her watch. It was well past midnight. However  today sleep seemed to have evaded her. Reminiscences of the past engulfed her today. Finally she gave up. She grabbed her laptop that lay on the table besides her. She put on the device and clicked on the folder named ‘US’. She slowly went through each photograph till she could hold back her tears no longer. Each photo brought back beautiful memories of the past, the days which she wishes she could relive again today. Five years back on this very day, she confessed her feelings towards him “Yes, I love you too.” And thus began a wonderful love story which now seems a fantasy to be true. Rahul had been a classmate and a friend. And their friendship gradually developed into something special, a bond that entwined their hearts so tight that it began beating for the other. And thus Naina’s fairy ...

HER VICTORY....

She stood there...wearied and exhausted...the clanking noise of the fan filled the otherwise quiet ambience of the room. The sun was playing peek –a-boo through the slits in the curtains. A rusty lazy afternoon with no one in the house. The children had gone to school and husband off to office. Getting up early, making breakfast for the family, daily dose of household chores and arguing with the nearby vegetable seller for every penny that could be saved. The maid also had not shown up for the last 10 days...maybe we need to cut down on her wages or search for another one she thought. The television was showing repeats of the daily soaps she already caught up with. She sat on the sofa with eyes closed... Yes, the day was as routineas it could be or was it... Today however as she sat on the sofa some disturbing glimpses of the last week cluttered her mind. She remembered her husbands’ words “ You need to find a solution. It can’t go on this way” “But...you know it can’t be a on...
