POSSESSED
Cupid strikes you at times unaware and unabashed,
Swooning you off your feet, giving wings to your dreams.
That fateful day in March that I saw him,
I knew my heart was singing a new hymn.
The days seemed brighter, the cricket sang merrier.
There was magic in the air, and breeze in my hair.
Never did the bougainvilleas bloom with such bright a hue,
The sky never seemed as blue.
I knew he was the one that plucked the strings in my heart,
For in his eyes I could see oceans of hope and desire.
In his voice is a lisp , that I could never miss.
And all I wanted for,was him to be mine.
He flowed in my veins, my thoughts and fantasy
His gaze, his smile, drove me to ecstasy.
He was my drug, my sweet poison that engulfed me both in and out.
He owned my heart, my being, my entirety,
I was a lump of flesh and blood, but only this,
For the soul was not mine, but his,
And I lay possessed-by his charm and his feel.
Its been three years since then,
And today I have his ring on my hand.
I could still remember my dreams coming true,
When we exchanged vows, back a year or two.
You were mine forever for the world to see,
And I lost all fear ,of losing you my dear.
Our names were engraved together,on the wooden plate
That bedecked the way to our little home on the pretty white gate.
But it is when in your eyes that I look , I could see traces-
Remnants of her, her smile, her caresses.
Your smile has an inexplicable curl, that reminds me of her curls.
When you hold my face at the darkness of the night ,
I could see her face in your pupils , pale and bright.
That day when I pushed her off the cliff,
I thought she would forever leave,
From your life and your heart, and all you would be was mine.
But when I see you walk, talk and pause,
I see her silhouette clung on to you,
As if a part of her that never left you,
That shall never leave us,
For you are possessed, by the love you once shared.
